I have two words to describe Ernie- Hard Core! He’s one of those guys who, once he gets into something, always strives to get better.  His determination is reflected in every aspect of his life.

Ernie is from Chicopee in Western Mass where he met his lovely wife Nora.  After coming to the realization that there are better jobs and educational opportunities in eastern Massachusetts, they packed up and moved to Peabody.  They bounced around to a few other locations before settling in Melrose in 1997.

Here’s a little about Ernie’s background; He served 17 years in the military finishing his service having attained the rank of Captain.  He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications as well as a master’s degree in Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Information Security. He and Nora have traveled extensively to 25 different counties and 47 different states including a two week safari and golf trip to South Africa in the Kruger National Park area. He also has a passion for competing in Enduro (dirt bike) races.  Dirty bikes have been a hobby of his since the age of 14 and he has competed in many events on the local and national level.  One highlight of his dirt bike racing was winning his class at a national level race in southern Maine in 2010.

Ernie cut down on his exercise regimen more than ten years ago after injuring both knees in separate incidents.  Excessive pain when exercising suppressed his urge to stay fit.  In 2008, surgery for ligament reconstruction along with a meniscus repair began Ernie’s path back to exercising and improving his life and health. Eight weeks after his last surgery, he started training with Jeff (at the prompting of Nora!) and began his road back to getting healthy.  Since then he has worked tirelessly to get in better shape.  He has strengthened his legs to the point of feeling little to no knee pain by participating in various resistance and cardiovascular fitness classes.  To this day he continues to build strength and now competes in a variety of road races and running events.  Great job Ernie, you’re a fine example of what can be accomplished with a little dedication and perseverance.
